ONLINE COACHING – THERAPY – MENTORING.

I have been offering online coaching and mentoring for several years now, but since I also have a Diploma in Counselling, I am now adding therapy to my list of services that I am conducted online via Skype from now on.

My big focus is on resilience, and overcoming problems you might have with people, places and things right now, to move towards being a better version of yourself today than you were yesterday.

As someone who lives with depression, anxiety, PTSD and addictive behaviours myself, I am uniquely positioned to be able to empathise with you while still being able to provide a safe and supportive space for you to get the help you need to keep moving forward.

Conducting these sessions over Skype gives us both the opportunity to interact in a place where you are most comfortable (your home) in an environment that is non-threatening, not stressful, and doesn’t require you to commute or take time out of your day getting to and from where I am. All communication via Skype is now encrypted for your own safety, security, and assurance of confidentiality and privacy.

I have worked largely with entrepreneurs, small business and startup founders and employees, those working in the tech industry, and those who are trying to establish their own public profile as writers, speakers, creators, and influencers.

I know this space very well from my own experience, and I can help you navigate it better too.

Some of the areas I can help specifically with include:

* goal setting (personal and professional)

* getting past obstacles and blockages with people, places and things

* living with – as opposed to struggling with – your own mental ‘uniqueness’ and thriving regardless

* rebooting your thinking so that you can live more positively, more on purpose, and able to be more kind to yourself

* feel like you can achieve more both personally and professionally

* be more aware of your accomplishments when you achieve them

* be better with conflict resolution both at home and in the workplace

* improve your communication skills

* be able to live more in the present, and be more positive and hopeful

* build more resilience and be able to deal with life’s challenge when they arise

* procrastinate less and get more done

* be happier and more content with your life

I do this through a combination of Mindfulness, Meditation, Reframing your Story, Acceptance, and Positive Psychology.

My approach to your care is as unique as you are, and I think about,
and work with, every individual client individually.

I am looking forward to working with you.

The sessions with me cost $150 including GST for up to 50 minutes, or you can buy a pack of 10 x 50 minute sessions for $1,200 including GST which gives you 2 sessions FREE.

WHAT MAKES ME A GOOD
COACH / THERAPIST / MENTOR FOR YOU?

I know how hard it is to find a good coach or therapist. Honestly, I have been through a few trying to find the best one for me. One of the main reasons it can be difficult finding a good one is because most of us don’t feel immediately trusting and able to share our innermost thoughts and feelings with a stranger right away.

I know I definitely struggle with that.

I am good at what I do because you and I probably aren’t very dissimilar. I live with anxiety and depression and PTSD, and I’m a recovering addict. I make no secret of that, because it’s not something that has any shame attached to it for me anymore. I think of those things as my SUPERPOWERS, and they are a big part of what makes me, me. Because I know what it’s like to live a life with these Superpowers, I am very well-equipped to be able to relate to you and your own Superpowers, whatever they are.

But instead of me telling you why I think I am the right guy for you, here is what a few of my clients have given me to say:

“Nick is relatable and makes me feel calm. I don’t love talking about my feelings much, but I know I have to, and Nick makes that a lot easier than I ever thought it would be.”
Darren, 44, Sydney Australia

“I need help with some personal stuff and some business stuff. What makes Nick perfect for me as a therapist is that he comes from a strong startup and small business background (like I do) but also brings a great wisdom and knowledge to my personal and emotional issues as well because of the mental ‘uniqueness’ he lives with himself every day.”
Naomi, 33, Auckland New Zealand

“Nick made me feel assured and confident and safe right from the start. I have tried therapy before with someone else, and even after my third session I still didn’t feel anywhere near as comfortable as I did with Nick after only a few minutes. He just gets me, and doesn’t judge or tell me what I have to do. He just listens and helps here and there. It’s gold.”
Cham, 37, Singapore

HERE’S WHAT YOUR (PROBABLY) WORRIED ABOUT.

“Is something wrong with me?”
Nope. My style of coaching/therapy/mentoring helps with all different kinds of people presenting with all different kinds of issues and blockages. Sometimes it’s just to be more productive at work, or to seek a new career path, and sometimes it’s for an issue that is fairly deep down and difficult to get to. Everyone is different. But there is nothing wrong with you, or wrong about you.

“Is my therapy kept private and confidential?”
Yes. Firstly all of my records are kept safe and secure, and I endeavour to not have a paper trail of any kind in any part of my business. All communications conducted over Skype these days are fully encrypted also so that’s some added security there as well. The only time I might have to break our confidentiality is in the interests of your safety or the safety of others, if I have to arrange a referral to another therapist or agency, or in accordance with state or federal laws in the interest of your therapy.

“Why wouldn’t I just talk to one of my family, or one of my friends?”
You can, and I think you should. But a lot of my clients tell me there are some things that they either can’t, or don’t want to discuss with people in their lives for whatever reason. I am objective in your life and that objectivity can bring great clarity that someone who is deeply involved with you, or related to, can’t bring. Also, your family and friends may not be professionally trained to help you heal, grow and change, as I am.

“Do I have to tell you everything?”
Nope. You can tell me as much or as little as you like. If I am doing my job properly, we will both unravel your story pretty effectively anyway in the first few sessions. But if there are things that you would rather I not know, or things you just don’t want to share, that’s completely up to you.

“Are you going to lock me into this forever?”
Nope. You can book ad-hoc individual sessions if you like, or you can book a package of 10 sessions which includes 2 of those sessions for FREE. That said, I find that a minimum of 3 sessions works best for most of my clients.

“Can you just fix me or tell me what to do?”
No, and if I did, you should find yourself another therapist. For a start, there is nothing wrong with you, so you don’t need to be fixed. And secondly, that’s not how this works. It’s about growth and change and healing, not fixing. I don’t use the words ‘should’ and ‘must’ very often because that kind of prescriptive therapy doesn’t work FOR me when I am the client of the therapist, and I don’t feel comfortable doing that with any of my clients either.

“What sort of people do you work with? And who won’t you work with?”
I primarily work with people who being a personal issue of some kind, but they might also be either employed in, or the founder of, a small business or startup business. That said, not all of my clients fit that description, and I am not bound by it. I mostly work with people who present with either depression, anxiety, bipolar or another kind of mood disorder, PTSD, or addictions.

I don’t work with children, families, or couples.

“I don’t need a therapist or a coach.”
OK, maybe you don’t. But since you have read this far down the page, you might be feeling like there is something that I might be able to help with. Everybody needs a little bit of help sometimes.

AND HERE’s HOW THE PROCESS GENERALLY GOES.

DISCOVERY
After you have booked in and paid for the first session, we have a quick chat on the phone so we can get to know each other a little bit, but also so that I can really ascertain where you want to start, and what you see as the most pressing stuff to start working on is. This initial call usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes and is free of charge.

ON-BOARDING
If we both decide we are a good fit for each other, then I will commence the on-boarding process for you as a client, which basically includes some administration stuff around consent and privacy and so on. Your expectations of me and mine of you will also be documented in this part of the process, to ensure quality of delivery from my part for you. Then finally, we will lock the first session in and make sure you are aware of how Skype works and so on. You will receive a calendar invite to confirm when that first session will be.

SESSIONS
Then we get straight down to work. The sessions are conducted over Skype and you can be in the privacy of your own home on either a computer, a laptop, or your phone for the sessions. It is usually best if you do the session with earphones in as this boosts the quality of the sound for you, but it’s not totally essential. A nice, quiet space, where you won’t be interrupted and where you will feel safe and comfortable enough to share openly with me is essential for these sessions.

EVALUATION
In truth, we will be assessing and evaluating each other constantly during this process. But I will also be doing formal evaluations of how we are travelling, how our therapy dynamic is feeling, whether you might benefit from me referring you to another therapist or agency, and so on. I will be keeping notes after (and very occasionally during) our sessions to make sure I can give you the best quality interaction and counselling I can. You are, of course, welcome to see these notes whenever you want to.

TERMINATION
As I said above, I don’t really believe in locking people into something forever and a day. If at any time you wish to discontinue our therapy, you are 100% in charge of that decision and that process. However, if we are not going to terminate, it’s best for both of us if we make the next appointment at the conclusion of the previous one. This ensure continuity of care from me, as well as peace of mind and organisation for you.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?
ARE YOU READY TO GROW, CHANGE, HEAL?
